MKP Georgia Men.jpg

The Georgia Center got its start when two men living in Georgia who were initiated in other Centers had the vision, passion, and energy to hold the very first New Warrior training Adventure in Georgia 10 years ago. Ed Carter, Healing Deer (initiated April ’97 at Tunnel Mill) and Jim Miller, Coyote (initiated October ’95 at Carver Point - Memphis) asked the Kentucky Center to serve as their mentor and conduct the first several NWTAs in Georgia. The point man from Kentucky was a certified Leader, Craig Herink, Sovereign Eagle (initiated November ’92 at Bedford Church Camp – Indiana). Over the past 10 years Georgia has held over 15 NWTAs with over 300 men initiated into the sacred masculine. The Georgia Center has a Lodge Keepers Society Council and an Elder Council and is evaluating adding a third NWTA do be held jointly with the Greater Carolinas Center in August 20010.

In August of 2008 we leased a Center building that needed some TLC. Since then we have spruced it up considerably and added many “manly” touches like a Grandfather’s medicine wheel wool blanket, a sword, several carved wooden staffs and “warrior” art. We also established a lending library of books on men’s work.

MKP Georgia men are active in community service projects like serving dinner once a month at Ronald MacDonald House near Emory University, working in a homeless shelter, Toys for Tots at Christmas, and building trails and bridges at Woodlands Garden in Decatur.
