Personal Mission:

I create a world of supportive communities by providing loving leadership.

Action in the World:

Norm has volunteered with the Mended Hearts Program since 1993. Norm has visited heart patients at both the St. Cloud and Minneapolis VA hospitals, and served as the Visitor Coordinator at both sites. In September 2005, Norm was appointed Assistant Regional Director of Mended Hearts which gave him oversight responsibility of Chapters in Minnesota and Wisconsin, all still as a volunteer.
He is also recognized for serving on The Twin Cities Men's Center Board of Directors for about ten years, off and on, during about 15 years total active volunteering. He also leads a retirement support group at The Men's Center.
Norm has been a member since 1993 of Sokol Minnesota, a Czech Cultural organization dedicated to physical and mental health. He has been the volunteer Membership Director and Men's Physical Director since 2000.
He has been a 15 year member of the Legion, an organization which provides service to the community especially veterans. He has served as Adjutant for Legion Post 99 for the past two years and as Chaplain prior to that.
Norm has also recently been elected President of Chapter 150 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees. The organization lobbies to preserve or enhance benefits for retired Federal employees.
Norm has been active in his church, including singing in the church choir the last 5 years, since his retirement. For the past 1 1/2 years, he served as an elder, one of the 9 person governing body. He is also currently chair of the Church Education Committee, which has responsibility for planning education programs for adults and children.
