ManKind Project USA Kentucky Community Celebrates 20 Years!

From Ten Men to One Thousand

The ManKind Project started with three men in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1984. These men stumbled into an idea for a men's training program, which they initially named the "Wild Man Weekend." That program became the New Warrior Training Adventure, now the most recognized modern initiation experience for men available.

Kauth, Tosi, and Hering had no idea what they were starting. The training gave birth to a community of men's groups. Now nearly 30 years later, the ManKind Project has evolved into a movement for emotionally mature masculinity in eight regions around the world with developing communities in at least four more regions. Each year the New Warrior Training Adventure is offered and supported by an army of volunteers in over 40 locations on four continents.

Men who experience the New Warrior Training Adventure are inspired to make a difference and share the gifts they've received. In 1992-1993, ten men from Kentucky learned about the training and made the journey in small groups to Chicago to participate. These men came home on fire, and the ManKind Project Kentucky was created.

Almost all of these men are still actively involved with the community 20 years later. They were recently honored with a gala celebration in Louisville at the First Unitarian Church.

Over 100 people gathered for an evening of story-telling, food, and entertainment in honor of the Kentucky community. As part of the celebration - a number of videos produced by William Thomas (brightideascreative.com), a local ManKind Project community member, were shared. Below is a brief promotional video produced for the event.

Personal Mission:

To create a world of connections by being loving, powerful, spiritual and playful.

I have nowhere found an organization devoted to men's issues that so deeply moves men to become the best human they can be ...
This work, without a doubt, helps change men into better models of integrity and accountability, making the world a safer place.
Through MKP I learned that there is a place for introverts in leadership.
My marriage, in my mind, would not have survived to this point were it not for MKP.
The men in MKP are unquestionably the finest I've met in any organization.
MKP has shown me how important being emotionally available is ...
