Men In Mission Inc, dba ManKind Project Houston began in 1991, yet was incorporated as Men In Mission in 1996. It has transformed the lives of more than 4100 Houston-area men from all walks of life. We have built our own program Center/Lodge in Houston and have of our training facility, Land of My Grandfathers, near Madisonville, TX. Men In Mission is committed to reversing negative trends affecting men by providing them with the resources they need to become better role models and effective leaders within their own families and within the community. We believe the work we do in supporting men's discovery of new perspectives in living their lives has a significant positive impact on those men's lives and the lives of those with whom they come in contact.

Our work often helps men become more supportive of those in their lives due to the work they do on themselves. A sister organization named Woman Within has a chapter here with similar programs for women. By helping men realize their full potential and create healthy solutions to their problems, we foster loving families, productive workplaces and stronger communities. Training, connection and support are at the heart of our mission. Our weekend educational, training programs take place at our retreat facility in North Zulch, Texas near Madisonville. Our ongoing Integration Trainings regularly take place at our program center in Houston. We held our first local trainings in the Houston area in August of 1991. Since then, more than 4100 men have participated in Houston- led trainings and approximately 250 men are joining us each year. We have a service component, Men in Mission and Service, which is a strong, giving group. Under local leadership, our initiated men are now serving others across the city of Houston – at soup kitchens, churches, homeless shelters, and wherever volunteers are needed.

Our New Warrior Training Adventure is led certified Leaders. These certified Leaders serve as guides to new participants and facilitate and oversee the basic processes of the training weekend. The certified Leaders are assisted by a volunteer staff of initiated men who devote more than 2 000 hours in service to the new initiates for each weekend training. Subsequent to the NWTA, some of these same volunteers facilitate weekly Integration Trainings. The day-to-day operation of Men In Mission is conducted by an Executive Director, with direction and oversight from a Board of Directors dedicated to achieving the goals of the organization. The commitment and dedication on the part of these many volunteers is a strong indication of the value of the services we provide to men in need.
