For the last 16 years, Bernie has volunteered at a support group for men with serious legal issues. Many are first time offenders and totally bewildered by the court system. Bernie helps these men understand the nature of their offenses, accept responsibility, the long court processes, and possible outcomes. Working alongside a licensed therapist, Bernie draws on his MKP skills to challenge them, formulate SMART goals, hold them accountable, and if necessary, facilitate clearings in the group. He often shows up on their court date to assure they have a strong advocate in the room.
